  • Real dependencies, done sanelystages gate what comes next — later work stays locked until earlier work finishes, and newly unlocked tasks pick up their start dates automatically.
  • One task, multiple parentsan activity can belong to several parents at once — so cross-team dependencies ("framing waits on the foundation") are just structure, not a diagram of arrows to maintain. Most tools can't express this at all.
  • Unlimited depthprojects nest as deep as the work actually goes — no forced Space → Folder → List hierarchy deciding your structure for you.
  • Your list shows what's actually yourswork waiting on someone else says so — and stays out of your way.

The engine most tools don't have

Permissions that match how a real business trusts people

Most software has one admin switch: you're in or you're out. Real businesses trust people in shapes — the junior sees client work but not HR records, the salesperson sees their region's contacts, the bookkeeper sees entity one's books. Coordinator's permission engine is built for exactly those shapes.

Roles are bundles, people hold several

A role grants per-module permissions on a ladder — view, edit, manage. People holding multiple roles get the union, so 'field crew + safety officer' is two grants, not a custom snowflake.

Four kinds of fences

Restrict a role to one legal entity's money. Scope a member to specific activity types, record types, or contact categories. Each fence stacks with the others — and with per-record privacy.

Enforced where it counts

Every rule runs on the server, on every action, with an audit trail. Fenced-out data is filtered in the query — not hidden by the interface — so there's nothing to 'view source' your way into.

Money

The bookkeeper sees the books, not the projects. A branch manager is fenced to one legal entity's finances — the other entity's invoices don't exist for them. Read-only reviewers never even see an edit button, and the period lock holds against every role.

Projects

Scope a member to specific work types: the sales team sees deals, not HR pipelines — and not even the names of the types they're fenced out of. Contractors see only the jobs shared into their reach. Nothing leaks through filters, pickers or reports.

Records

Restrict who can see which record types — contracts for managers, procedures for everyone. Any single record can also be private with explicit sharing, and a file dropped into a private context stays private, even when it crosses a thread.

Contacts

Fence staff to the contact categories in their lane — their region, their accounts — instead of the whole book. The same client page shows money sections only to roles that can see money; everyone else gets a clean identity view.

Chat

Speaking rights derive from the work: lose access to a record and its discussion goes read-only for you at your next message. Observer seats read without posting; compliance readers can be present without appearing to other participants.

Resources & scheduling

Who may reserve the van, who manages the rate card, who approves time off — separate grants. Team calendars show fenced colleagues' time as 'busy' without details, and other companies never see more than that either.

Compare that with the market: most tools in our comparison pages have a binary admin switch, sell "granular permissions" as an enterprise tier, or fence nothing at all. Here it's free — and the same engine governs AI: agents hold ordinary roles, and an MCP connector token gets the intersection of what you granted and what your live role allows, re-checked on every call. How AI fits →
