Time tracking that ends in an invoice, not a CSV
Trackers count your hours and hand you an export. Coordinator tracks time on the actual work — then bills it, job-costs it and reports the margin, in the same free system. Unlimited users, no per-seat meter.
Free. No card. About two minutes to set up.
One timer, on the real work
No separate 'time entries' world to maintain — the timer runs on the task, in the project, for the client.
- One running timer per person — start on a task, stop, minutes computed — no stopwatch babysitting.
- Rates frozen at entry — change someone's rate next month and history stays true.
- Billable or not, per entry — internal work stays internal; billable work queues for the invoice.
- The waiting analysis — active time vs. waiting-on-someone time, split — see where delivery actually stalls.
Unbilled hours flow onto invoices by themselves
Pick up a client's unbilled time as invoice lines in one motion — or let the monthly retainer sweep it automatically. No export, no re-keying, no forgotten hours.
- Retainers that sweep the month's time onto the invoice, on schedule
- Hosted invoices paid by card on your own Stripe, PayPal or Wise
- Loaded payroll cost allocable to jobs — so margin is honest, not gross
Trackers charge per user to count — billing is extra
Here's the market, side by side. Every row links to a full, fair comparison.
| Tool | Price | Model | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coordinator | $0 — every feature | Time → invoice → job cost → margin, one system | Start free → |
| Toggl Track | Free (≤5 users); ~$9–$18/user/mo | Free to 5 users; per-user beyond | Full comparison → |
| Harvest | ~$9–$17.50/seat/mo + unpublished usage fees | Seats + unpublished usage metering | Full comparison → |
| Clockify | Free (now ≤5 users, features stripped); ~$4–$15/user/mo | Free (≤5 users post-2026); per-user tiers | Full comparison → |
| TimeCamp | Free (unlimited users); ~$4–$14/user/mo | Free unlimited users; per-user ladder for billing | Full comparison → |
Competitor pricing and limits are approximate, from published plans as of August 2026.
Free time tracking, without the asterisk
Yes — unlimited users, no per-seat fee, no features held back. Everyone gets one running timer; managers get the reports.
Onto the work, and then into the money — automatically. Time logs against the task with the person's rate frozen at entry; unbilled billable hours flow onto the next invoice (or get swept by the monthly retainer), and loaded costs land on the job so margin is real.
Dedicated trackers count time and then export it — to your invoicing tool, your books, your reports. Here there's nothing to export to: the invoice, the job cost and the profitability report are the same system the timer runs in.
It shows something better than idle-detection: the waiting analysis. '40 days on this project — 22 of them waiting on the client.' Active work and waiting spells are tracked separately, so you can see where delivery actually stalls.
Billable flags per entry, bill-out rates and internal cost rates per member (admin-only), and rates frozen at entry time so history never rewrites when rates change.
